An Engagement Session is an exciting time. Sometimes it’s the first professional set of photos that you take with your soon to be spouse. It can also be your ‘Save the Date’ images that you share with family and friends. Whatever it means to you, we know that it means something special. Here are a few tips yon how to Prepare for an Engagement Session:

BOOK YOUR WEDDING DAY HAIR AND MAKEUP ARTIST

This is the perfect time to work with the people you are choosing for your special day prior to the event. You don’t want to get out of your hair stylist or makeup artist’s chair the day of your wedding and not like what you see. Test trial your team. This allows them to also know your expectations and confirm they can meet them. I recommend testing out any vendors you can for your engagement session as you prepare for your wedding.

DRESS TO IMPRESS!

Think about it. You take everyday photos with your significant other all the time. Now you have a professional photographer that you’ve HIRED in front of you capturing fire images (I mean that’s if you booked KB Visualz Studios of course lol). Be your best self that you want to capture. This means:

• Fresh Hair Cuts
• Hair and Makeup
• Your Best Suit
• “Gala Ready” Dress
• Fresh Manicure

Come ready! I offer two outfits during my sessions. If you want to wear something more casual, feel free to do so with your second look. If you want to wear two fancy outfits, ball out lol. If you just want one look, that is fine too. As long as one outfit is your “Dress to Impress” look, you’re on the money. I also recommend only having ONE person in pattern otherwise your photos could come off tacky looking (no shade lol).

CLEAN YOUR JEWELRY

It may not look dirty to you, but the camera captures everything! Make sure you clean your jewelry, specifically your ring, before your session. I like to do ring shots sometimes during an engagement session and any smudges or dirt will definitely show up when taking up close and personal images.

MAKE A DAY OUT OF IT!

I love sunrise images so most of my engagement sessions are planned at sunrise ( with the exception of a few, like the engagement session in this blog lol). You are already GQ’d up or Dolled Up, pardon all my slang in here lol, but after the session, take advantage of the fact you guys are already dressed up. Go out and celebrate! Enjoy the moments leading up to your wedding as you get ready to enjoy the next stages of your life.
